Striking Slaves Will Only Harm Their Own Slavery

Image
The original title of the article is: "Striking Autoworkers Will Only Harm Their Own Livelihoods" On Friday, September 15, 12,700 members of the United Auto Workers union (UAW)   walked off   the job at plants owned by the “Big Three” automakers—Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis (which owns Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram). The walkout marked the beginning of a series of   long-expected   targeted strikes aiming to give the UAW leverage as it renegotiates contracts with the three companies. The strike is grounded in frustrations over worker compensation. Union members and their supporters point to high profits and CEO pay at the Big Three and compare them to stagnant wages and rising costs of living among autoworkers. They feel like they’re being ripped off. And they’re right. Like the rest of the working class, autoworkers are being ripped off. Decades of interventionism have built an economic system that harms workers while helping the corporate and political clas...

The Post-Truth Anti-Bullshitters are Just Producing a More Sophisticated Type of Bullshit

The Post-Truth Anti-Bullshitters are Just Producing a More Sophisticated Type of Bullshit BY   DR JAMES ALEXANDER The phrase ‘post-truth’ was invented, it seems, about 10 years ago. As usual, books were published with it in the title five years later – by Matthew d’Ancona, Evan Davis, Julian Biaggini and others. Davis and d’Ancona used the language to defend the establishment. And so has Sam Leith this week in the  Spectator  in a  piece about Russell Brand . The central assumption of these concerned establishment gate-keepers – those writers who keep the shutters on the Overton Window to prevent the breaking of the glass – is that Brexit, Trump, Climate Denialism, Vaccine Scepticism etc. are signs of favouring ‘emotion’, ‘clicks’, ‘monetisation’ over against ‘facts’, ‘evidence’ and ‘truth’. We can understand why they write this way. But this way of seeing things is spectacularly unreflective. It is, in a word, reactionary. Not reactionary in the good sense of...

Ignoring the Heart of the Matter: How Myocarditis Became the Silent Scandal of COVID-19 Vaccination. JUSTIN HART It started slowly at first - a trickle of concerning reports that something wasn't right. In January 2021, just weeks after the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines,  cases of myocarditis began cropping up. Myocarditis - inflammation of the heart muscle - had never been linked to vaccines before. So when 28 cases were reported to the U.S. vaccine adverse event reporting system (VAERS) [1] that month, it raised eyebrows. By February, the trickle had become a stream. VAERS received 64 more reports, including two deaths [2]. Then in March, Israel [3] and the military [4] started reporting cases too. Something strange was going on. But the authorities ignored it. In March, the FDA authorized the Johnson & Johnson vaccine without a whisper of myocarditis [5]. The CDC soon recommended it for all adults [6]. Colleges and businesses started mandating the shots [7]. It was...
