From the Thirties, on the other hand, advertising also often promised to release us from a certain all-too-human Hell—of rejection, isolation, shame, embarrassment, due to your ( unless  you buy the product  now ) Bad Breath, Body Odor, dandruff, “unsightly wrinkles” or whatever other sign of your foul, failing body might forever cut
