I'm just going to say it outright. Contemporary trans discourse is deeply reactionary. It not only fosters a structural (discursive and material) dependence on industrial technology and capital. It not only reproduces what I'd term "spectacular epistemology", i.e. the notion that narrative, and especially mass-marketed narrative, equals truth. It also strongly synergizes with neoliberal ideology in that it ritualistically destroys the very notion of conceptual and metaphysical barriers for consumer license and product demand. The "womanface" farce JOSH SLOCUM The more that feminists complain about “womanface,” the more I think they deserve Dylan Mulvaney. If you don’t know Dylan, he’s the obnoxious narcissistic young gay man making a fortune pretending to be a “girl” and is currently ruining the brand prospects of products he’s repping such as Bud Light. The complaint from feminists: ”He’s wearing  WOMANface!” We are supposed to feel the same emotional jolt at that phrase as the one we get when hearing “blackface.” I have two complaints with this. I wonder which one my readers will find more problematic? 1. Women are not born with thick black eyeliner, false lashes, overdrawn lips, “countouring” makeup, lace-front wigs, pre-installed high heels, or falsies. These are not features of womanhood that are comparable to the actual, physical, black skin being aped by those who wear blackface.
