George W. Bush Lets Slip the Hypocrisy at the Heart of the Modern West
So it seems that even when he tries to denounce Vladimir Putin, something deep in his psyche cannot help but escape:
I distinctly remember watching bombs fall on Baghdad indiscriminately one evening in 2003.
The invasion was based on lies - that Saddam Hussein had links with Al Qaeda, that the people of Middle East wanted western democracy, and that weapons of mass destructions were being built for use on the west.
These sins would be repeated by the west in Libya, where militant Islamic terrorists would be supported by NATO bombing. Altogether, Obama’s interventions in Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen would lead to the deaths of over a million civilians.
It is the hypocrisy which sickens me. Putin has been restrained compared to what the US would do if Russia and China started running the Mexican military.
Putin moves across his own border and the world loses its mind. The West rains down hell on countries on the other side of the world and the media laps it up.
After Iraq and covid, I am sure you can trust the the media and the US this time.
This time, they are not lying, surely?
