another gaze into the crystal ball to see what's coming
in the halcyon days of 2021, certain internet felines were heard to opine “it won’t be long before you will not be able to find anyone who claims they were pro-lockdown."
and apart from a few holdouts lingering like mad eyed japanese soldiers still standing their posts on some forgotten pacific island in 1950 because they never got the news that the war was over, this is rapidly coming to pass.
there seem to be two broad camps:
camp one is “the science/situation changed.” this is exemplified by folks like leana who are famously taking tons of heat right now and being disinvited to conferences for their newfound apostasy.
this transition is not rooted in fact and the claims of “this used to work” are not going to hold up especially from so many “zero covid” claimants. this feels mostly like longstanding china support and apology trying to cover itself for having fallen for utterly implausible claims of chinese lockdown efficacy that were outright fabrications that made soviet grain reports look like herodotus.
this team is mostly a weathervane. they will point due “high status consensus” and play a political game. that’s what changed, not the science.
of course, self interest is always a grand driver as well and perhaps we dealing with something as prosaic and timeless as “your child’s harm is a statistic, but my child’s suffering is a tragedy.”
but at the end of the day, these practices failed to replicate everywhere. they failed to even bend curves one eeensy little bit.
and i think this group will wind up alienated and largely homeless. everyone remembers who lined up on team “lock down and mask up” and the flip flop to freedom fools few while turning the rest against you.
it will allow many in the middle to excuse their misbehavior at the dionysia with internal monologues of “it was a different time” but there is no energy in that system. it’s just the “go along to get along gang” quietly switching sides and trying to go back to some semblance of normalcy and avoiding internal or external blame. we’re not going to hear much from them.
the ones to watch are the ones going full “shaggy” and none exemplify this impulse better than cult party band “teflon tony and the prevaricators” whose hit single “we never did any of that” has been sweeping the nation as follow up to past chart toppers like “i only told you not to mask to save the doctors” and “vaccines are 100% effective (oh wait they were never to stop the spread).”

as ever, his explanations seem to come up short.
i am seriously starting to think that tony is outright psychotic. this seems past the point of “i’m lying tactically for political purpose” and well into “the world’s most appalling cautionary tale on the dangers of cognitive dissonance in narcissistic personality types.”
if one is sufficiently enamored of oneself and committed to ideas and ideologies (especially those revolving around one’s own morality and greatness) then the entire reality of the world becomes malleable and bent to purpose. it’s not a conscious process, it’s a perception filter and revision system. you cannot be wrong. that never happened. it’s a subconscious edit function that pushed too far can render one a full blown inhabitant of hallucination.
you’ll change the input of your very eyes and the contents of your memory to avoid having to change your mind about yourself. the power of that hallucination is directly proportional to your level of self-love and need for self-belief. and if there is one thing that tony loves, it’s tony.
one theory on the timing of his resignation is that he finally ran out of room in his office for new pictures of himself.
but the problem with living in a world with hot and cold running instant on receipts and having been a media addict determined to be the face of all public health policy doing 20 interviews a week is that the people might remember it a bit differently.

but what’s going to get wild now is the tails of the curve because tony is not alone. many, many others share his “political and covidian expression as identity” complex and have been proudly proclaiming their sagacity and moral rectitude to anyone within range for years.
and they are going for broke on reality bending as well.
you can all but smell the burning wires.
and this is going to lead to a sort of seductive low energy path as two systems of energy collide in a channeling trough and generate a sort of perfect storm. the math works like this:
it’s an easy slide from “we did not do this” to “this was done to us” and the latter even better serves the need to memory-hole misbehavior. it does not just dodge responsibility, it shifts it to enemies and others and rallies the troops around a righteous crusade against them.
that’s political dynamite.
and it’s coming.
post mid-terms, “this was all trump’s fault” is going to become the grand unifier of the lockdown left. politics was the predictor of lockdown, in person schooling, drops in employment, mask and vaxx rules, and nearly every other covid response. none of it worked and the damage was vast. this leaves the more zealous of “team donkey” in a tough spot and when you’re in a tough spot, you go with what you know and if there is one thing this gang knows, it’s “always accuse the other side of that which you are doing.”
and that’s where they’ll go. because they have A LOT to explain.
the shift from “your failure to obey and comply killed us” to “why did you make me obey and comply you fascist!” is going to be a hullva thing to see.
it will break brains utterly.
lockdowns, school closures, and all the damage they wrought will get pinned on the donald despite his outright (albeit ineffective) opposition to such plans. but since when does “what really happened” matter?
where this will really heat up is going to be vaccines because the shoes there are still dropping like bowling ball sized hail and the CDC is only going to be able to play their current game of statistical 3 card monte for so long.

for those tempted to ascribe the drop in slope in early 2021 to “vaccine efficacy” it’s worth looking at this data as well:
that “slope flattening” was quite minor, seasonal in nature, and never got the US below +15% excess mortality during weekly periods.
the disease has become much less severe. “covid deaths” are way down. but overall deaths remain severely elevated and the timing of these “surges” in excess non-cpovid “natural” deaths remains deeply suspicious as can be seen in this chart from gatopal™ ethical skeptic who wrote a fantastic longform piece on CDC data suppression and misclassification HERE that is a must read.
the fact is this: the covid vaxxes never worked as claimed. they failed right out of the box and caused the massive pivot from “makes you a dead end for the virus” to “was never supposed to stop spread.” and leaky vaccines are desperately dangerous and the structure of mRNA inoculants makes them far more so. and the bill that’s coming here is not going to be one you can dine and dash on. someone is going to have to pay it.
and so, i think the same folks that turned “orange man’s death elixir” into “the fabulous fauci ouchie that will save us all” are going to turn this carriage back into a pumpkin and lay the blame for the warped science of warp speed back at trump’s feet.

this is the low energy path and the folks who are sitting on the train tracks here are fauci, prizer, moderna, and the FDA. whether this works on trump or boomerangs to harm the accusers is a jump ball, but i lean toward the latter.
but one thing looks eminently clear to me:
the dominant play for the folks that made this mess is to jump over to the other side of the table and claim victim status as they do in so many other issues.
“we wuz lied to!”
and it’s not like pfizer et al have not left ample evidence for such accusation.
declaring fraud and blaming political opponents for the mess remains the obvious low energy pathway.
i continue to think that this is how it plays out. to avoid blame for the harm, they need scapegoats and the regulators alone will not suffice. they need to take down the drug companies and the same people who hailed them savoir will dance with righteous glee upon their graves. the only thing they love more than elevating idols is pulling them down.
and that will make throwing drug companies and regulators under the bus while bellowing “orange man tricked us!” and alleging trump collusion with pharma to keep eyes off the NIH and the origins of the vaccines the order of the day.
but i doubt it works.
this is all going to leak out. covid origin, vaccine origin, trial fraud, willful misrepresentation of data, and the utter and complete lack of scientific backing or efficacy from these policies.
and we need to help it.
and so i end this piece like i did the one above:
this all starts with a serious and all encompassing evaluation and analysis of the data used to approve these drugs. it was obviously astonishingly slipshod and corner-cut. but if it was fraud, then we can really make some changes.
that will be too enormous to not react to.
please dig on this, support the diggers, and pass on to elected leaders a sense that something here is deeply amis and that they should be paying attention and devoting resources to this.
we cannot un-ring this bell, but we CAN prevent it from ever taking such a toll again.
