Surprise! Nobody’s Coming to Save Us!
Surprise! Nobody’s Coming to Save Us!
Why would we expect anything different?
Stop me if you’ve heard this one: It’s late on election night, and returns are rolling in from all around the country. Just before the ‘deciding’ races are determined, everybody just stops (or nearly stops) counting. A week later, political junkies are wondering WTF is going on and everybody else in the country has already moved on by the time the announcement comes that (SURPRISE!) the Democrat pulled out a close victory — in this case to retain control of the Senate, or to retain control of Oregon’s governorship. (Bonus: Kotek is already planning on declaring an emergency to deal with the growing homeless issue. She wants to turn hotels into shelters!)
You’re not living Groundhog Day, it was just the 2022 midterms — featuring unacceptable delayed vote counts, presidential gaslighting, and results that all but ensure the result of the 2024 race as well — with swing states such as MI/PA/AZ(?) remaining in blue control. So now it looks we’re going to be stuck living 2020-2022 all over again - and maybe through 2024 as well.
None of this is too surprising. Much like the covid disaster, none of the people who made 2020 such a shitshow have been forced to pay a price for their actions. (Indeed, perhaps the most disappointing thing is how the midterms showed that covid madness has been stuffed down the memory hole, even as vaccine injuries pile up.)
In fact, it seems like the only people who learned anything from 2020 were the fortifiers, who learned in 2016 that ‘democracy’ is too dangerous for the voters to actually have a say. And while they spent the last two years calling anybody who dared question the election process a danger to the country — including the Republican candidate for governor of Arizona — here we are passing into early Monday morning STILL not knowing the result of that race.
The simple fact is that littering the cityscape with millions of ‘legal’ ballots is an integrity hole that is simply too large to allow. When trillions of dollars in government spending (and/or Senate investigations) hang in the balance, elections must be transparent and verifiable. This means in-person voting (making it a holiday if you have to!) with video records of the number of ballots used at a polling station, and those ballots never leaving said polling station — instead they are opened directly in front of observers and tallied. Schedule staggered shifts and run the count for 16 hours if you have to (but you won’t have to, as Florida has shown after cleaning up their election process).
And all the way back in 2005 we used to be able to talk about stuff like that.
This was a pretty non-controversial report at the time, basically furthering what we already knew to be true from elections around the world: we need voter ID to ensure a ballot cast is a legal one, mail-in voting is ripe for fraud and abuse, and voting machines should leave a verifiable, auditable paper trial for votes.
Now if you try to talk about these things, you’re shouted down using the exact same language used for ‘anti-vaxxers’ or ‘Putin stooges’. EVERYBODY KNOWS MAIL IN BALLOTS ARE FINE, YOU RACIST! This is standard practice these days to attempt to shut down any actual discourse about a sensitive subject — just ask the DHS.
As for why our ‘leaders’ were trying to shut down talk about Ukraine and the ‘aid’ money we were shoveling hand-over-fist into the country, it looks like maybe the graft went deeper than we thought. (Even deeper than Hunter double-dipping on Burisma and biolabs!)
This is big-league fraud, the kind that normal criminals can only dream about. Taxpayer money sent for ‘aid’ to Ukraine, invested in FTX, then funneled back to democrats — to the tune of almost $37 million!
A SOFT CEILING OF $1,000,000,000. A THOUSAND MILLION DOLLARS. Do you recall any breathless articles about how this billionaire was subverting democracy with his filthy riches? Me neither.
Power is everything to these people, and they’ll do anything they have to do to get it and hold onto it. (Even fake the Reichstag fire! ← Read this article!!!!) And like I said in April, the GOP is clearly not the answer to the problems that we face. I’m sure SOMEWHERE out there, candidates were railing against covid lockdowns and vaccine mandates and how the ability to do it all again is hanging over our head like the Sword of Damocles — but I didn’t hear about them. (To be fair, most Republicans would like you to forget they also made it illegal to go to work)
No, it turns out that it’s up to us to push back against this agenda trying to ensure we own nothing by jacking up energy costs with terrible ‘climate change’ policies while also running the printing presses overtime to pay off the cronies. We’re the ones who are going to have to fight at the district level to resist vaccine mandates for school children.
We’re the ones who are going to have to fight to ensure that our elections are open and honest, so that even the losing side feels comfortable with the results. It’s not going to be easy, and it’s not going to be fun. But it IS going to be satisfying, and there will be great people by your side at every step of the way.
And along the way, we’ll inadvertently have the help of the Biden administration, which may have won the short-term political victory but now faces the long-term problem of all their ideas completely sucking.
The thinnest of silver linings, I suppose.
