What the recent Rasmussen survey tells us about ourselves

What the recent Rasmussen survey tells us about ourselves

Its a bit frightening

On January 5th, 2022 the Rasmussen Report conducted a telephone survey of 1,016 voters. The survey used a Likert 5 point agreement scale that allowed respondents to give progressive positive and negative answers to the posed questions. The Likert scale is a commonly employed psychometric scale used in many public health questionnaires. The scale assumes the strength and intensity of an attitude is linear ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. Telephone polls can be tricky because not many people answer their phone when a strange number appears on it. So their might be some bias to this survey instrument.

An article on the Rasmussen survey results summarizes the Democratic identified voter support for harsh measures against the unvaccinated. I must say I was a bit shocked at the percentage of Democratic respondents who supported fining (55%), home confinement (59%), confining in camps (45%) and tracking devices for the unvaccinated (47%). 48% of Democrat respondents favored support for the imprisonment of individuals who publicly question the effectiveness of vaccines on social media or any other media source. You can see the questions and a demographic analysis of the answers here.

This is some pretty heavy groupthink or mass formation. And this survey was done after data has come out about waning effectiveness of vaccines and immune evasion by omicron. Perhaps the fear of spiking cases has made some of the survey respondents approach the atrocity behavior seen in later mass formation. This is not a fear that can be externally reasoned with. Those who want to fine, confine and malign the unvaccinated are fixed in their views that the vaccines are safe and effective and that if everyone gets vaccinated, they will end the pandemic. They believe it is the unvaccinated who are driving the pandemic.

This type of thinking is deeply concerning to me. Our political leaders and the media have contributed to creating the “groupthink” anger/fear and have done nothing to diffuse it. This does not bode well for “returning to normal.”

Contrary to what the Rasmussen Survey responses suggest the unvaccinated are not driving the omicron surge.

San Francisco is one of the highest vaccinated and boosted cities in the US. Over 80% of the population is vaccinated and 50% of those are boosted. But like Scotland, San Francisco’s PCR positive cases have flipped over the past month in favor of vaccinated individuals driving their omicron surge. The data can be found here.

Why? Is it the waning or immune evasiveness of omicron or has the immune system of San Franciscans been over-trained to respond to the “legacy vaccine” spike protein only so that the heavily mutated omicron spike gets a dud response?

This type of data may never make it to the New York Times, CNN or any other MSM source that present only the “mainstream science.” And if the 48% of Democrats who favor jail time for those who question the narrative have their way some of us could end up in jail.
